Trichet continued credibility of monetary policy implies
constant alertness and the anchoring of inflation
expectations, European Central Bank President Jean-Claude
Trichet said in the foreword of a special monthly bulletin
released Thursday and dedicated to the 10th anniversary of
the European Central Bank. Elsewhere in the mostly backward-looking bulletin,
the ECB wrote that continued challenges ahead would "require
vigilance and attention" and that there is no room for
complacency since inflation persistently above 2% since the
euro's inception "does not comply with the aim of the
Governing Council."
